Bar service for your event
The TGCA offers a number of beverage service options for your event. Whether it’s a concert, a wedding or a small meeting or celebration, we’ve got great options for events large and small. Choose the hosted bar option for a worry-free experience while you leave it up to us or choose the client stocked bar option and make some money on liquor sales at your event. Not interested in alcohol? We’ve got you covered with the non-alcohol service bar.
You must have your bar service for your event chosen and confirmed with our staff at least 1 month prior to your event. All bar services at the TGCA are staffed with ProServe-certified, TGCA bartenders. The TGCA can provide bar services for events with 75 – 800 guests. If your event has less than 75 guests, please see the Client Stocked Bar option below. Taxes will be added to all pricing upon payment of your booking.
Staff and Hours of Bar Service
Staffing the bar for your event
The TGCA supplies staff for all events requiring bar service. In compliance with the AGLC and our insurance provider, we provide Proserve-certified staff for any event that will be serving alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages. The client may not provide their own service staff for their event.
TGCA service staff wage: $22/hour. 2 bartenders required for events over 100 people. Minimum 4-hour bar service.
Staffing in each space:
Main Hall rentals (250 – 700 guests) includes staff wages for bar service in the price of the rental.
Thorncliffe Room rentals (75 – 150 guests) do not include staff wages in the price of the rental. Wages for the duration of the event will be added to your event invoice.
5600 Room rentals (1 – 30 guests) do not include staff wages in the price of the rental. Wages for the duration of the event will be added to your event invoice.
Bar service hours
Bar services are available until 2 am, drink sales end at 1 am, all drinks will be bussed and tables cleared at 2 am.
Bar Services Available for Your Event at The TGCA
1 | TGCA Hosted Bar – private events with over 75 guests
Available in The Thorncliffe Room & Main Hall | No corkage fee paid and no liquor license required
Enjoy your event with no worries while we take care of everything. No corkage fees, not a thought about your licence or purchasing and picking up your event alcohol order. We’ve got a number of options for those looking for a maintenance-free bar service and we will work with you to make sure that your guests get the product and services you’d like.
TGCA hosted bar services are available for private bookings in the Thorncliffe Room and Main Hall only (75 – 700 guests). Bars are stocked with house wines, house spirits and domestic beer for your event and bartenders, serving and bussing staff are provided by the TGCA for $22.00/hour per staff member. (staff levels dependent on the size of event). The TGCA hosted bar option is not available for events that are advertised, charge admission or sell tickets – for these public events, please see the client hosted or non-alcohol bar options below.
If you choose the TGCA hosted bar option, we will provide the liquor license and no corkage fee will be charged as all bar service items (pop – Pepsi products, juice, cups, straws, ice, etc.) are included in the bar service pricing.
Minimum guests expected for a TGCA hosted bar is 75. Events with less than 75 expected guests may choose the client hosted or non-alcohol bar option.
- Cash & drink ticket bar: client purchases drink tickets from the TGCA, distributes tickets to their guests as they see fit in addition to guests paying cash, debit or credit at TGCA bars(s).
- This option works well for a “Toonie bar” when you collect $2 per ticket and cover the remaining costs for your guests.
- Client drink ticket prices: $6.50/ticket sold in 100 lots up to 1500.
- No refunds on drink tickets from The TGCA.
- TGCA retains all proceeds from cash bar sales.
- Cash bar: client’s guests purchase drinks from the TGCA for the duration of the event. TGCA stocks the bars and retains all proceeds. Guests may pay with cash, debit or credit.
- Open bar: client pays for beverages for the entire event; guests do not pay per drink. Pricing dependant on structure of event, client’s preferences, number of guests, etc. Payment for the events’ total bar service and a service fee of 15% to be made following your event.
Our standard bar set up is as follows:
Spirits – light rum, dark rum, vodka, gin, rye, tequila | $6.50
Beer – domestic bottles: Budweiser, Canadian, Kokanee, Bud Light, Coors Light | $6.50
Wine – house red and white | $6.50
Wine bottles for tables/toasts – $25 for house red and white
Cocktails – available on a per event basis.
Standard mixes include: clamato, orange, cranberry, soda, tonic and a variety of Pepsi product options.
If you have a particular cocktail or brand you’d like on your menu, special orders can be discussed on a per event basis.
2 | Client Stocked Bar – public or private events up to 700 guests
Available in The 5600 Room, The Thorncliffe Room & Main Hall | Corkage fee required and liquor license purchased by client
The TGCA welcomes you to stock the bar(s) with your preferred beverages for your event or meeting. This option is available for The Main Hall, The Thorncliffe Room and The 5600 Room at the centre.
If you choose this option, you’ll be responsible for providing the necessary liquor license, alcohol for the bar service and The TGCA provides the bar setup (pop – Pepsi products, juice, ice, cups, straws, etc.) as well as the service staff. You set the pricing for the bar and retain all proceeds.
Corkage is a non-negotiable fee for your rental if you’ve chosen this bar service option. Corkage covers the TGCA’s costs to stock the bar (pop – Pepsi products, juice, cups, ice, straws, etc.) and in the case of the main hall rentals, to staff them as well.
Liquor service corkage fee: $6 per guest.

If your event is a private party, like a wedding or a birthday party, you can purchase your license from the liquor store that you purchase your liquor supplies from. If your event is a ticketed, advertised or you are charging admission, you must get your license directly from the AGLC. In either case, if you do not have a license for your event, our event staff will not allow the sale of alcohol.

3 | Non-alcohol Service Bar – public and private events over 75 guests
Available in The 5600 Room, The Thorncliffe Room & Main Hall | Corkage fee required
For clients that do not want alcohol service at their event but want to give their guests the option of refreshments. The non-alcohol service bar is a great option for high school events, religious ceremonies, or large meetings. This option is available for bookings in the Thorncliffe Room and Main Hall only.
The TGCA provides the bar setup (pop – Pepsi products, juice, ice, cups, straws, etc.) as well as the service staff. We also have coffee and tea services available for large and small groups. Please see our catering options for coffee and tea pricing.

Non-liquor service corkage fee: $4.75 per guest.
