  • League is self-officiated.
  • Each week in the regular season competing teams play 2 10-frame matches and then choose the best scores of the night. Please put score sheets in league box in alley and ensure your totals and team name are CLEARLY MARKED.
  • Regular season ties are to be broken by a sudden-death 1-frame bowl-off. Highest scoring team in the frame wins. Please make sure this is recorded clearly on the scoresheets for the office. Tie breaker points will not be added to the points for that night.
  • Final games are 3 10 frame matches between finalists with points being tallied.
  • There are no ties in playoffs.
    • If teams are tied after 3 games (Team A won Game 1, Team B won Game 2 and points were tied in Game 3), the team with the highest scoring player in Game 3 wins.
  • Team with the highest points wins.

The league trophy and prizes will be given to the champs and Name That Tune starts at 8 pm so stick around compete for music nerd supremacy! League members will be contacted 2 weeks before Windup to choose their complementary meal. League members are welcome to bring guests but please contact Vanessa before the party, so accommodation can be made in the restaurant.

Make sure you’ve got spares

There will be no assigned makeup game times in the bowling alley, so teams that don’t make arrangements to have spare(s) play their missed games default and take a loss as well as 0 points, and opponents automatically win and are awarded 300 points.Opponents are encouraged to practice in the assigned lane, should this be the case.

Every team must assign a Captain in team registration

Team captains are the league’s first point of contact for all matters associated with their team. The TGCA looks forward to working with all captains to make their jobs as easy as possible. The captains’ responsibilities are as follows:

Team contact

  • All correspondence from the TGCA office will go through the team captains.
  • Captains are asked to respond to all correspondence in a timely manner when dealing with schedule changes, defaults, sportsmanship issues, or other requests.
  • Captains are expected to pass on all important information to their teammates.

Manage the roster

  • Schedule spare(s) for any games that team members may miss.

Sportsmanship

  • Managing the actions of their teammates.
  • Bringing up concerns with the opponent team in a respectful manner.
  • Liaising with the TGCA office on any sportsmanship issues and follow-up.

Reporting scores

  • Captains are expected to ensure the scoresheet is submitted at the end of the night.
  • If score disputes arise, captains are expected to work together to decide the final score before submitting.

Please note that you need a valid TGCA membership to register for this league. Visit the membership page for more info on becoming a members and the membership overview page for managing your existing membership account.

TGCA league members are stewards of the community and are expected to behave as such. The bowling alley rules are listed on the TGCA bowling alley info page as well as in the alley itself. All league members are expected to follow these rules. Should there be reports of members breaking these rules, team captains will be contacted and appropriate action will be taken.

The only equipment required is bowling shoes, which are provided in the bowling alley in a variety of sizes ranging up to men’s 12.

League members are welcome to wear their own bowling shoes. No other type of shoe is permitted on the approach.

By clicking the “I have read and agree to the website terms and conditions” when you register your team for the league, you are agreeing to follow the TGCA rules for the league.

Please find the terms and conditions for the bowling league on the TGCA rules and guidelines page here

This is a recreational league and that means it’s for fun! We encourage all league players to enjoy the competitive aspect of the sport but players are expected to be kind and courteous to other teams and The 56 staff at all times.

Captains are to report any issues with league members’ sportsmanship to Vanessa Gillard by email, v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com. Upon consideration, league teams/members may be subject to penalties such as a drop in their team’s standing by one place, and then, upon a second report of unsportsmanlike conduct, possible removal of the team member in question from the league with no refund of fees. Team members who aren’t able to get along with their fellow league members may not be invited to return to the bowling league.

If 56 staff report a league member for breaking bowling alley rules or unbecoming conduct, this will count as a strike toward that team member as described above.

Betting on league outcomes is not permitted in the TGCA bowling league.
