Good Food Box at the TGCA

The Good Food Box makes top-quality, fresh food available in a way that does not stigmatize people, fosters community development and promotes healthy eating.

The program is coordinated by the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary and the TGCA is one of many depots across Calgary. You can find all the depots on the Community Kitchen website.

Good Food Boxes include produce only, and are chock-full of seasonal vegetables and fruits, so you can expect quite a different box in January than you might get in June.  

You may want to make a meal plan ahead of receiving your Good Food Box. It’s an exceptional value but it is a lot of perishable food. To give you an idea of how much food you’ll get, the “large box” usually comes in a banana box and often also includes an additional bag of potatoes. (Pictured on this page)

Please note: Community Kitchen Program of Calgary doesn’t accommodate special orders and the content of the boxes is not optional. Please keep this in mind if you have allergies, as your box may contain a wide variety of produce.

How it works

The TGCA takes payments online or in the office for the The Good Food Box program. You can purchase your box online using VISA or Mastercard below, you can send the TGCA an e-transfer (more info on e-transfers on this page) or you can visit us in the office and pay with debit, credit or cash.

You will receive an order confirmation to your chosen email. Please have this order number with you to pick up your order. 

We are currently taking orders for Good Food Boxes for the Jan. 15 pickup until Jan. 6, 2 pm. 

Pick up procedure: The Good Food Boxes will be available in the Old Lobby (orange star on map of TGCA site at bottom of this page) on designated pick up days 2 pm until 6 pm. It’s located north of the entrance on the east side of the building-please note the signage above the door. Tell the volunteer attendant what your order number or last name is and they will give you your box.

If you can’t make it to the designated pickup time, please contact Vanessa, v.gillard@tgcalcalgary.com and arrange a time for the next day -Friday- to pickup your box.

Please note that boxes that aren’t picked up will be utilized by the TGCA.

Community Kitchen Program of Calgary message regarding 2026 price increase: 

“As we look ahead to 2026, we need to let you know that the cost of the Good Food Box will increase by $5 per box. This decision was not made lightly. We have not adjusted pricing in many years; however, rising grocery costs, fuel prices, and operational expenses now require this change to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program.”

Small Box:  $35, 15 – 20 lbs* of fruits and vegetables

Medium Box:     $40, 25 – 30- lbs* of fruits and vegetables

Large Box:       $45, 35 – 40 lbs* of fruits and vegetables

*These weights are just an approximate. Weights will vary depending on produce size and density.
