The Giving Wall pay-it-forward initiative at the TGCA

Pay it forward. Feed the community.

The TGCA is very happy to announce our participation in a city-wide initiative that aims to support people and businesses in need during the pandemic.
We're so please with how The Giving Wall pay it forward initiative is going! We've fed 7 families and our wonderful donors have given $481.50 so far!

The local Giving Wall initiative was started by local food writer Julie Van Rosendaal to allow people to donate a meal, a coffee, or a tab in their local eateries by simply purchasing items that they’d like to “pay forward” or donate to whomever might need it. The idea is to support the businesses and organizations that we care about while also paying-it-forward to those who can use it during these difficult times.

We all have the power to help in even the most simple ways. The Giving Wall allows you to help two-fold!

This initiative will look different depending on which establishment is offering it, as some can offer gift cards or prepaid meals and so on.

At the TGCA, we are offering online registration for people and families to participate as those in need of meals, and donations for those registered will be accepted through our websiteThe intention of this registration/donation structure is to see some of these meals going to low-income families in the area, as Greenview was identified as a particular neighbourhood of concern in recent city census reports.

Donate often! This is an ongoing initiative and if we have donations, local families will be receiving meals.

Here’s how it works at the TGCA:

Those able to donate meals

You can donate through our website! It’s super easy. Simply click on the “Donate meals button and choose the amount you’d like to donate. The suggested donation amount for one person is $12.50, so if you can donate $50, together we can feed a family of four a delicious and nutritious dinner of their choice. You will receive a receipt to your chosen email contact.

All donations will go to recipient families, and may be made with VISA, Mastercard or Interac Online (TD or Royal Bank only).

Please note there is a minimum $5 donation required.

Those in need of meals

Simply fill out the provided form by clicking “Register to receive meals” to be registered. When a person/family has been registered they will be put into the rotation of recipients of the “Giving Wall at The TGCA. When we have collected enough donations to fill their order, they will be contacted and asked to order from The 56 menu and arrangements will be made for the order to be picked up from the community association.

Please note that recipients must plan to pick up their order or eat in the restaurant, as The TGCA will not provide delivery for this initiative.

Registrants will stay on the list of recipients until they request to be removed or until the initiative ends.

Thanks so much for any and all support you can offer at this tough time. Why not spread the word about this great initiative? When you’ve donated, tag The TGCA on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and tell your friends about why you donated. Our handles are at the top of the site.

The TGCA will be posting regular updates about how many meals we’ve served through your generous donations and together we will feed those who need it most in our area!

If you are registered and have any questions about your order, please call 403-274-5575 and speak with Chad or email him, c.ciarrocca@tgcacalgary.com

If you have any questions about registration or donations, please email Vanessa, v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com.
