Membership at the TGCA is one of the ways that we can measure the value of our association in the community while creating a sense of belonging among the residents of Thorncliffe and Greenview. Keeping a current TGCA membership is a great way to show your support of community building in north Calgary, and there’s plenty of perks that go along with it too.
The TGCA recognises members that contribute to the association to enhance humanitarian, sporting, social or cultural efforts with a lifetime membership. It’s a designation that no longer requires renewal for the recipient, so that they can enjoy all the perks of the TGCA membership without another payment – for life.
With just 58 members selected since it was implemented, the lifetime membership is the TGCA’s highest honour, and we’re looking for nominations so that we can recognise more of the amazing contributors that keep this community association active and thriving.
If you’re a resident member of the TGCA, you can nominate a fellow resident member for this award, but the following criteria must be met:
- Nominee must be a Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association resident (lives in Thorncliffe/Greenview, voting) member for a minimum of 10 years, in good standing with a minimum of 10 years of service to the community association.
- Nominator must a Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association resident (lives in Thorncliffe/Greenview, voting) member in good standing. Nomination for candidate is required in writing, signed by nominator, and submitted to the TGCA Board for approval.
Nominees may be awarded the lifetime membership under three categories:
- Humanitarian/Citizenship
- Increasing the TGCA atmosphere through caring and involvement.
- Affecting other members with their positive attitude.
- Adding awareness of people in need and offering support.
- Sports/Social Programs
- Through volunteer commitment, supported a program by coaching/managing/playing and raised the level of knowledge and enjoyment for the program.
- Brought association members forth to increase level of participation.
- Left a mark on a program by being an integral part of it.
- Cultural/Historical
- Brought awareness to the association’s members about a new group/program and assisted in them being accepted.
- Kept track of the historical value of a program.
If you would like to submit a nomination, please include your first and last name, email, phone number, the nominee’s first and last name and email, as well as at least 100 words detailing your nominee’s merit and qualifications. Please sign and date your nomination and submit it either in person in the TGCA office (Mon-Fri, 9 – 4:30 pm) or email to president@tgcacalgary.com.

Those selected for the lifetime membership will be invited to be recognized at the TGCA 2025 annual general meeting in October.
