Land Use Amendment Feedback Wanted

The TGCA Planning Committee is seeking feedback from residents regarding Land Use Amendment application LOC2026-0101 for 5639 Centre Street NW in Thorncliffe. The applicant is requesting to redesignate the property from R-CG (Residential Grade-Oriented Infill) to H-GO (Housing Grade-Oriented) to allow for a proposed townhouse development.

According to the application, the project would include two townhouse buildings containing five townhouse units and five secondary suites, along with vehicle parking, bicycle parking, and residential amenity space. The site is located along Centre Street NW, close to existing primary transit service and the future Green Line LRT corridor. The applicant states that the proposal aligns with Calgary’s Municipal Development Plan by supporting greater housing choice, increased density near transit, and efficient use of existing infrastructure.

The committee wants to hear from residents about how you think this proposal may affect the neighbourhood. We are interested in your thoughts on topics such as housing diversity, transit-oriented development, parking, traffic, neighbourhood character, and any opportunities or concerns you believe should be considered.

The City of Calgary is accepting public comments through the DMAP listing until August 19, 2026. Please send your TGCA feedback to publicservice@tgcacalgary.com so the TGCA Planning Committee can consider community perspectives when preparing its response to the application.
