Each year the City of Calgary facilitates cleanup depot events at community associations across the city. These opportunities for waster disposal are imperative to keep neighbourhoods clean and they allow residents to avoid a trip to the dump.
The TGCA’s annual cleanup depot is always a very well attended event and we’re looking for a volunteer to coordinate. This role will require some work from home as well as in-person on the day of the event. This event has been running for many years and the facility is particularly well suited to the drop-off format. The coordinator will have the support of TGCA staff in setting up and tearing down, as well as the initial planning and marketing. The TGCAs cleanup depot usually takes place in May but this is not set in stone.
Role requires:
- Meeting with staff to learn about how this event is typically run. Site layout and map existing for coordinator use.
- Applying for cleanup depot dates with the City of Calgary.
- Bookings vendors for the event (electronics recycling, Calgary Drop-in, etc.)
- Coordinating with TGCA staff to recruit volunteers for the day of the event.
- Approval of marketing materials for TGCA website, social media, posters and e-newsletters.
- Running the operations at the event:
- Assigning volunteers to various tasks/stations
- Being available for any issues that need resolving
The deadline for the application to the City is mid-February, so this is a fairly urgent request. If you’re interested in this opportunity or you have any questions, please email Vanessa, v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com.
