TGCA Supper & Stand-up Comedy Showcase – event update!

What a laugh! The comedy showcase event put on by the TGCA for our volunteers on April 5 was a great time had by all.

Volunteers enjoyed a roast beef dinner, drinks and dessert before the show began, and the consensus seemed to be satisfaction which was a great way to start the evening’s entertainment.

Alison Abbott, TGCA president and volunteer, was on duty to express how important volunteers are to the community association in a speech before the show began. MLA Lizette Tejada, who’s also a TGCA volunteer, made an appearance to thank local volunteers for their service in the area as well.

The comedians had the 100+ guests in an uproar of chuckles at times, and the event was just a great opportunity for everyone to laugh, catch up with neighbours and enjoy themselves.

The TGCA wants to thank Faris Hytia, Lori Gibbs and Brian Stollery for their great performances. These Canadian performers worked together in lockstep with our emcee to make the event a success, and we really appreciate their talent and teamwork.

We also need to recognize our wonderful staff for catering and bartending the event. They did such a great job, and we’re so lucky to have them at the TGCA to take our events up a notch.

And, of course, thank you to all the volunteers that came out and laughed with us. Your contributions to the TGCA are so incredibly important to the success of the CA and contribute greatly to quality of life in Thorncliffe and Greenview. Without our volunteers, the TGCA is just a building, so thank you to all of our volunteers so very much.

April 5, 2025 | 5:30 – 10 pm in the main hall

The TGCA would like to extend our appreciation to the volunteers that are the foundation of the community association. The challenges of the past few years have been many, and because of our volunteers, we continue to offer the community great facilities, services and programs that support quality of life in our area.

In light of this, we are sending an invite to join us for a complimentary evening of dining and laughter in the main hall. This is a casual event that will offer a bit of an escape from the worries of our everyday lives, as well as an opportunity to meet other volunteers and catch up with friends.

As a TGCA volunteer, you and a guest of your choice are invited. Please RSVP for you and your guest (if you’re bringing one) by filling out the form linked below. Everyone will receive 2 drink tickets for a full bar, a roast beef dinner with all the fixins, dessert, entry into the draw for multiple awesome door prizes and admission to the comedy showcase. All on us as our thanks to you!

The seating arrangement is open seating, so if you would like to sit with a group, plan to arrive around the same time to find a table together. There are no seat reservations available for this event.

Please RSVP by March 18 to be added to the Supper & Stand-up guest list.

Invites have been sent out via email. If you haven’t recieved an invite and you’ve volunteered with the TGCA in the last 2 years, please contact our programming and community engagement coordinator, Vanessa, v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com.
