The Planet Youth Calgary initiative has identified youth engagement and youth leadership as priorities, as well as Indigenous representation, leadership, and involvement. Our focus is primarily on Indigneous Youth Wellbeing Circles, and this approach has been used to examine the issues faced by Indigenous youth, in regards to their wellbeing. We explored ideas and solutions using a creative problem solving methodology, and also had the opportunity to weave the Western process together with Indigenous ways. Elders connected with the project have expressed the sentiment that “Indigenous youth walk in two worlds” and these circles were an experiment in what the manifestation of that in a program could look like.
