Just as a taste of what we will cover in the community safety conversation, here are some recent statistics on crime in our area.

What does safety mean in Highland Park and Greenview? What can we do to increase community safety?

According to the Calgary Equity Index, crime rates in Highland Park and Greenview range from average to above average.

• “Social Disorder” situations including public disturbances, disputes, mental health concerns, etc. is almost double the Calgary average in northern Highland Park and southern Greenview.

• The “Person Crime” rate which includes all violent incidents is about 50% higher than the Calgary average.

• Property crime (break & enters, theft, fraud) is also above average.

Does this surprise you? Does this match your experience? If you’re interested in learning more, everyone is invited to join us for a Community Safety Conversation with our CPS Community Resource Officer. Learn how we can make our neighbourhoods safe, connected places for our community.
