Come and paint a mural and help us beautify the community centre!

Outdoor beautification at the community centre continues, June 26 at 8:30 am!

Natalie, one of our awesome Directors, continues her relentless and aggressive campaign of beautification for the outside of our building. In addition to the recently constructed native species demonstration gardens and “lawn chairs”, this time her sights are set on the paved space on the south side of the centre overlooking the baseball diamond.

For the next part of the beautification plan, and to make the patio a bit more inviting, we are converting the south-side firelane into a “woonerf” (that’s Dutch for ‘shared space’). This paved space won’t just be for driving and parking anymore!

We are looking for volunteers to help paint the ground mural on the asphalt. The hard work of laying it out is done, just the fun painting part remains!

We need volunteer painters (rollers or brushers) on June 26 at 8:30 am for 2 jobs:

A) 4 painters for the outdoor ground mural using paint rollers. These positions require volunteers to bring their own long roller handles and brackets, roller sleeves will be provided.

B) 5 painters doing the edges/touch ups.

C) If painting the ground mural isn’t your ‘thing’, we also need 4-6 volunteers to paint cinder blocks and assemble some benches. You will need to be able to lift and manipulate 30lbs. All tools provided.

All volunteers need to be at least 18 years old, please.

Things to note:

– no food or beverages supplied, bring your own water bottle. Please bring a beverage and some snacks if you might get hungry.

– wear clothing that you can get paint on.

– disposable rubber gloves available, if requested.

This job is bound to be plenty of fun and you’ll be able to admire your work for years to come!

C’mon Thorncliffe Greenview, let’s build something together!
