On December 15, 2025, Calgary City Council initiated the process to consider a repeal of the citywide Rezoning for Housing. As there is much interest in this topic, The TGCA wants to ensure all residents are aware of upcoming events and how you can ensure your voice is heard.
What are the next steps in the process?
- The city will be sending letters to all legal landowners advising of the change and providing information on how to participate in the public consultation.
- A public hearing has been scheduled for March 23, 2026.
- Public engagement is a critical component of the process.
How can you participate and ensure your voice is heard?
- Register to speak (in person or remotely) at the March 23 hearing via https://www.calgary.ca/planning/public-hearings.html
- Provide a written submission (letter) utilizing the online form via https://www.calgary.ca/planning/public-hearings.html
On the submission page you will need to indicate if you want to speak or submit a comment.
You need to indicate that your comments are regarding the Public Hearing Meeting of Council scheduled for March 23, 2026.
You will be asked if you are in favor or opposed to the issue. This is a Notice of Motion EC2025-0995 Repeal of Blanket Rezoning (Land Use Bylaw 1P2007 Amendments Implementing City-Wide Residential Rezoning). Accordingly, if you want council to repeal blanket rezoning bylaw indicate you are in favour of the issue.
You can attach your written submission and any audio-visual materials as part of your submission.
In addition, you may choose to send your comments directly to our elected officials.
