64 Avenue N.E. over CPR bridge construction

Via The City of Calgary

Note: this work is not related to the recent Deerfoot Trail-64 Ave interchange work being undertaken by Alberta Transportation.

The City of Calgary is reaching out to inform you of an upcoming infrastructure project that may impact traffic for the Thorncliffe Greenview and Huntington Hill communities. The project is bridge rehabilitation work on the 64 Avenue NE bridge over the CP Rail tracks. The work is scheduled to commence next Monday, May 8th and is expected to wrap up in mid-July.

Timely repairs must be carried out to maintain safe traffic service and prevent ongoing concrete deterioration that could lead to future unplanned road closures. This project will extend the service life of the bridge and improve safety for bridge users.

The project scope includes:

· Expansion joint/seal replacement

· Miscellaneous concrete repairs

· Milling and paving at bridge approaches

To minimize the traffic impact, work will be scheduled during evenings, between 9:00 pm and 5:00 am. Construction will be completed in stages in order to accommodate traffic on the bridge while the work progresses. Traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout construction.

Updates regarding lane closures and construction schedule will be posted online at the project webpage- www.calgary.ca/bridgejoints .
