This year, maybe more than any other in recent memory, Calgary families are struggling. You can give the gift of happy holiday memories to local families by donating to this local, grassroots fundraising campaign. Your donation will make a big difference all the way into the new year and beyond.
Community school partners
In partnership with both Thorncliffe and Corpus Christie Elementary Schools, the TGCA identifies local families in need each holiday season and passes along the funds raised. This campaign may be the difference between a holiday dinner or no dinner this year, so your donation will likely make the biggest difference yet.
Thanks to all the incredibly generous people in the community, this annual campaign is in its 6th year, and the last five years we’ve been able to reach our fundraising goals of $5000. This year we’re aiming for a $5000 goal for local families again.
The TGCA asks that you look at your giving budget this season to see if you can help these families in need. Giving truly is the spirit of the season.
Ways to donate
We’re collecting online donations of $10 and up until Dec. 5 and then giving the funds to the families (parents and their children) in the form of a cheque. We take Visa, Mastercard and Visa Debit on our website.
If you’d like to join the public donor list on the site info page, add your name to the indicated field in your donation order. Otherwise, leave that space blank and your donation will be listed as anonymous. Donors’ contributions will not be disclosed.
If you would like to donate less than $10, you can also donate with personal cheque, cash, debit and credit in the office too!
The deadline for donations this year is Dec. 5.
Other ways to support
This year will be our 3rd bake sale at the TGCA Craft Fair to benefit the Adopt-a-Family fundraiser and it’s been a real success! We’re looking for bakers until Nov. 13, so if you’ve got a great recipe and a kind heart, consider supporting local families with your baking. Interested? Find all the info and sign up to donate to the bake sale here.
So, when you’re at the Craft Fair this year, Nov. 14 & 15, please stop by the bake sale for some yummy treats and feel great about supporting local families.

Please note that the TGCA cannot give charitable tax receipts for this initiative, as we aren’t a charitable foundation, we’re a non-profit organization.
Thank you for your consideration of the 2025 TGCA Adopt-a-Family! Your contributions, in whatever form, make a big difference to local families.
