TGCA Recycle & Clean-up Day 2022

The TGCA in association with the City of Calgary will be hosting a Community Cleanup Day on May 28, 2022 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

You are encouraged to bring your recycling (list of items below) and your garbage for disposal. This will be an excellent opportunity to clean up your house, garage or yard and spruce up our community. Please let others know on your block about this day as this will be a great opportunity to get to know your neighbours or just another opportunity to check in with them.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • No tires
  • No old and unusable furniture or beds
  • No appliances
  • No bicycles (except bike frames)
  • No car seats
  • No hazardous waste
  • No paint or spray cans
  • No concrete or bricks

Compost trucks will not be provided by The City of Calgary this year. All organic material will go to the landfill. Please use your compost bin where possible.

  • Waste truck will be available.
  • Metal recycling will be available.
  • Electronics recycling will be available.
  • Paper shredding will be available.

Items which ARE acceptable (Covered loads are required)

  • Household waste
  • Organic compost & yard waste (to the landfill)
  • Electronics
  • Metal of any type
  • Paper for shredding (staples do not need to be removed)

The Drop-in Centre will be on site accepting the following items:

  • Gently used furniture (items that can be put into a home)
  • Gently used household goods
  • Gently used clothing
  • Gently used computers and electronics

Entry to the event will be from the entrance on Centre Street and exit then on 56th Ave turning East or West. Upon arrival you will be directed by volunteers to ensure the flow of traffic and to make it easy for other events at the community centre if they occur. Safe vehicle travel and respectful behavior to you and to others is expected.

The easiest route would be North bound on Centre Street and then turning right into the front vehicle access driveway. This would then avoid a left hand turn off of Centre.

Please note that participants will be required to follow all active provincial and local public health measures during Community Clean-up events. For more information visit https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-public-health-actions.aspx and https://www.calgary.ca/csps/cema/covid19/response-to-coronavirus.html?redirect=/covid19

Keep the date open and shorten that to-do list. We’ll see you there!
