The Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association & Recreation Centre Terms and Conditions Policy
Upon checking the “I have read and agree to the website terms and conditions” you are releasing the TGCA, Board of Directors and its employees from any liability due to Covid-19. Responsibility falls upon each person who enters the facility to exercise caution and assess their own health. All patrons who wish to enter the TGCA during the declared pandemic has the understanding of the increased risk of Covid-19. You will enter our building at your own risk.
If any symptoms are present, do not enter the building. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, fever, new onset of cough or worsening chronic cough, new or worsening shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, chills as well as other signs of feeling unwell.
Injury or bodily harm
The TGCA encourages all visitors to any of our facilities to have valid insurance, in case of injury. The Thorncliffe Greenview Community association will not be held responsible for any injury/illness or death that may occur during a guest’s visit to the facility.
Should you or another visitor be injured in the facility, please notify a staff member and a First-aid certified member of the staff will assess the injury, should it be deemed necessary.
Drugs, alcohol and tobacco products
Alcohol and tobacco products are permitted only in the following areas. Please follow these rules as regards these substances:
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the TGCA facility for any reason. Please smoke in the designated areas and stay 5 metres away from all entrances/exits while smoking.
- Visitors to the TGCA facilities are not permitted to have open alcohol products anywhere on the premises, with the exception of The 56 Restaurant & Lounge or a licensed event.
- No drugs of any kinds, unless prescribed by a doctor, are permitted on the premises of the TGCA facility.
Damages to the TGCA facilities and surrounding property
Any damages incurred by visitors to the building, equipment, or property of the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association will be assessed and billed to the visitor, renter or tenant that is deemed responsible for said damage. Should this incident go unresolved for more than 30 days, the visitor, renter or tenant risks their good standing, and the outstanding amount owing may be sent to collections.
Applies to online sales/agreement: By checking the terms and conditions box in the checkout payment window, the customer is agreeing to all terms and conditions for the entire TGCA facility, but more specifically the department that you are entering into a binding agreement to rent, book or make use of.
TGCA online purchase cancellation policy
Products and bookings purchased on the TGCA website will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee in addition to any other cancellation fees that apply. Programs or bookings that are canceled by the TGCA will not be subject to the 10% cancellation fee.

Guidelines for the Forbes Innes Arena at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association
Forbes Innes Arena General Guidelines:
- The person making payment for this rental(s) is in charge of the ice/floor time, and is solely responsible for all damages to the dressing rooms and the building.
- All damages are to be estimated by the TGCA and paid in full by the signee before any further ice time will be made available.
- There is no liquor allowed in the building or on the surrounding property.
- The Forbes Innes Arena is a smoke free venue.
- You are to be out of the dressing rooms one half hour after your ice time.
- If cancellation is solely ours, the party will be reimbursed the amount of the rental, or an alternate ice time agreed by both parties will be made.
- Refunds will be granted if the facility is mandated closed by the Province of Alberta or the City of Calgary from the date the closure is in effect.
- The Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association will not be held responsible for an injury/illness or death that may occur during the above rental agreement.
Parameters of your bowling lane rental
- Outside food and drink is not permitted.
- Bowling lanes are booked for one-hour time blocks for up 4 bowlers per lane.
- Check in with the staff at The 56 Restaurant & Lounge before going to the alley.
- Please refrain from changing your shoes until you have reached your lane.
- Bowlers will be assigned a lane by The 56 staff.
- Ensure that all trash, score cards are disposed of before leaving your designated lane at the end of your booking.
- Ensure the lane is vacated at the end of your booking.
- You may cancel your booking no less than 5 days before and it will be subject only to the TGCA online purchase cancelation policy (-10%, see online cancelation policy top of page). If you cancel within 5 days of your booking, a 15% admin fee will be subtracted from your refund. To cancel your booking and receive your refund, please contact the TGCA office by email -v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com- and include your name, order # and what you’d like to cancel. If you’ve booked online, we can refund to the card you paid with. If not, other arrangements will need to made, such as a credit or in-person refund.
TGCA 5-pin Bowling Alley Rules
- Stay in your designated lane.
- No lofting balls. Roll gently.
- Keep fingers out of the ball return to avoid injury.
- Do not pass the foul line or walk on the area of play.
- Children and teens must be supervised at all times.
- No food or beverage permitted on the lanes or the approach.
- No outdoor footwear permitted while bowling.
- Do not attempt to adjust or fix bowling equipment. Instead, ask the restaurant staff for assistance.
- Do not enter the area behind the pins. This area poses serious danger to bowlers.
- Allow pins to reset before throwing next ball.
- Please return used shoes to the “dirty shoe” rack and dispose of score sheets and other waste when your booking is over.
If bowlers do not comply with the bowling alley rules, the TGCA reserves the right to ask you to leave without a refund, so please be safe and have fun!
Terms and Conditions of Bowling Party Bookings at The TGCA Bowling Alley
Parameters of your bowling party booking:
- No food permitted in the bowling alley.
- No outside food or drink permitted in the bowling alley/party room except for snacks (chips, crackers) in the party room at bowling events.
- Check in with the staff at The 56 Restaurant & Lounge 15 minutes before your party booking and they will give you your score sheets and confirm all details.
- Please refrain from changing your shoes until you have reached your lane.
- Bowling parties are booked for one-hour time blocks in the lanes and then 1 hour in the party room for up to a maximum of 20.
- Note that if you have over 20 guests, you can make a reservation in the restaurant for the remaining (over 20) guests at your event by calling 587-393-7641 and speaking with Wendy.
- When your hour of bowling is up, please proceed to the party room or reserved area of the restaurant.
- You may bring decorations and put them in the party room during your allotted time in the space. Please don’t hang anything on the walls. All decorations must be taken with you when you leave.
- Parties will be assigned their lanes by The 56 staff.
- Bowlers are expected to remain in their lane and use the lanes assigned to them.
- Ensure that all trash, score cards are disposed of before leaving your designated lane.
- Return your bowling shoes to the rack before you enter the party room.
- There is adequate room for parent guests in the bowling alley, however, if parents are on the lanes, they must wear bowling shoes.
Cancellation policy:
You may cancel your booking no less than 14 days before the date with no penalty. If you cancel within 14 days of your booking, a 15% admin fee will be subtracted from your refund. To cancel your booking and receive your refund, please contact the TGCA office by email -v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com- and include your name, order # and what you’d like to cancel. If you’ve booked online, we can refund to the card you paid with. If not, other arrangements will need to made, such as a credit or in-person refund.
Lockdown contingency: If the province or the city announce new restrictions that force the cancellation of your bowling party, you will receive a full refund to the card that you paid with.

Terms and conditions for the TGCA Bowling League
The TGCA requires bowling league participants to follow these guidelines:
- League and class participants are to follow the league guidelines outlined in the league information page and observe protocols put into place for their particular program, sport, facilities and league. If you don’t understand the current expectations, please speak to Vanessa Gillard, TGCA programming and community engagement coordinator.
- If a team member is injured or can’t play the rest of the season, teams are expected to bring in their spare. Team captains must contact Vanessa to discuss how the team will proceed.
- No timeslots are allotted in the bowling alley for make-up games.
- When 2 members of a team (or their spares) can’t make it to the match, they forfeit the game and the opponents win by default.
- No refunds will be given for the TGCA bowling league.
Sportsmanship
This is a recreational league and that means it’s for fun! We encourage all league players to enjoy the competitive aspect of the sport but players are expected to be kind and courteous to other teams and The 56 staff at all times.
Captains are to report any issues with league members’ sportsmanship to Vanessa Gillard by email, v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com. Upon consideration, league teams/members may be subject to penalties such as a drop in their team’s standing by one place, and then, upon a second report of unsportsmanlike conduct, possible removal of the team member in question from the league with no refund of fees. Team members who aren’t able to get along with their fellow league members may not be invited to return to the bowling league.
Gambling
Betting on league outcomes is not permitted in the TGCA bowling league.

Players must follow all bowling alley rules and guidelines or risk their removal from the league without a refund. Rules are as follows:

- Children and teens must be supervised at all times.

- Do not attempt to adjust or fix bowling equipment. Instead, ask the restaurant staff for assistance.
- Do not enter the area behind the pins. This area poses serious danger to bowlers.
- Allow pins to reset before throwing next ball.
- Please return used shoes to the “dirty shoe” rack and dispose of score sheets and other waste when your booking is over.
Closure contingency refunds: In the event that a citywide closure order of recreation centres is issued due to COVID-19 concerns, the remaining balance of your subsequent league nights from that date will be refunded to you using the payment method you originally used for registration of the TGCA program. The TGCA will honor refunds to participants who request them and they will not be automatically issued to all participants.

Terms and conditions at The TGCA Racquetball Courts
Parameters of your court rental:
- Court play is 45 minutes in 1-hour block bookings.
- Racquetball players will be assigned a court by The 56 staff.
- Players will have 15 minutes to use the change rooms at the beginning and end of racquetball court bookings.
- Changing clothing of any kind is not permitted in The 56, racquetball courts or hallways. Use the change rooms or washrooms to change your attire.
- ONLY white soled, non-marking shoes are allowed on the courts. Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Safety lenses/glasses are MANDATORY while on the courts.
Online cancellation policy:
When you have booked your court online, you can view your bookings in your membership account, as well as cancel your booking. Racquetball court bookings may be cancelled online 2 days (48 hours) in advance of your booking date. Refunds will not be automatically given, so please call the office to discuss rebooking, receiving a credit or getting a refund.
The Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association Terms and Conditions for the TGCA Racquetball League
The TGCA racquetball league credits for past season closures are settled. All players were contacted to receive any remaining refunds in Spring 2021 and any remaining credits are now expired. This means that all league players are expected to pay the full fees to register in the Fall/Winter 2023 league seasons. No exceptions.
The TGCA requires the TGCA league participants to follow these guidelines:
League and class participants are to follow the guidelines and instruction of the league leader and/or instructor, and observe protocols put into place for their particular program, sport, facilities and league. If you don’t understand the current expectations, please speak to your league leader or instructor to clarify.
- If you are injured or can’t play the rest of your season, please contact the office to discuss the details of your fees. The TGCA will not issue refunds or credits in subsequent seasons for players who could not participate unless there is noted correspondence regarding your absence.
- Changing clothing of any kind is not permitted in The 56, racquetball courts or hallways. Use the change rooms or washrooms to change your attire.
- Players are to leave their locker doors open after use to indicate the necessary disinfecting of this space to our staff.
- ONLY white soled, non-marking shoes are allowed on the courts. Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Safety lenses/glasses are MANDATORY while on the courts.
- If you are not able to make a league match for any reason, please contact your opponent as soon as possible. You may make up a missed game by contacting Wendy Worth at 403-274-5574. Please inform the staff this is a make-up game, the name of both players, and the date/time you wish to play. There is no cost for a make-up game, but please limit your play to 45 minutes. TGCA has the right to deny make-up games, if the courts are booked.
Registration cancellation/refunds: you may cancel up to two days before the registration ends for a full refund. To cancel, you must contact the TGCA office and speak with or leave a message for Vanessa Gillard, 403-274-6840 or v.gillard@tgcacalgary.com. When a refund is approved, it will be put back onto the account that you used to pay online minus a 10% cancellation fee. If you paid in the office, arrangements will be discussed.

Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association Guidelines for Community Leagues and Programs
As a community association, part of our mission is to provide community amenities combined with an extensive array of programs and year-round events and activities to promote and support our members and others who come to share and use our facilities.
We are consistently building on our programs to suit the needs of residents of Thorncliffe and Greenview.
The TGCA is mindful of the size of classes, instructor qualifications, police background checks and other considerations that may be important to community members. Much of this information is available on our our program info pages, but you can contact our programs coordinator, Vanessa Gillard, with questions.
